My kid is finger-picking Pink Floyd's Goodbye Blue Sky right now. What's yours up to?

Mine? He's getting punished (hands on the wall) for various misbehaviors today including hitting his mother tonight because he wasn't allowed to watch his favorite youtube videos. Probably not his finest moment... Funny you should create this thread tonight as well...

Well, to keep with the theme, we watched The Wall. The boy liked the cartoonies, who wouldn't comment on and basically ignored the nude scenes ("gross") and at the end, when I said, "Well, there it is..." he said, "Yeah, well, I think you can delete THAT one." Probably for the best...

Boys. We were in the Living Mall this weekend and walking by a big movie poster that had a girl in a bikini. Herman (7) was shielding his eyes going 'yuck!'

Just heard: Miles likes The Rolling Stones. And there was much rejoicing...... which means drunken dancing 12600 km away.......

Was feeling a bit overwhelmed and bummed about the quake in Japan, so I took the boy camping up in San Xia to escape the video bombardment. Not so easy getting a fire going (in the giant wok we have for that purpose) with green and wet wood, but we managed. Did some science with eggs...for the record, they do NOT "hardboil" on a bed a hot coals. They explode actually. We cooked up some lamb stew, fed the fire, he played guitar and sang Let It Be, and then we pulled out the laptop and watched Austin Powers and laugh laugh laughed deep into the night. He's now writing an essay about it for school and is deciding if he should say "Dad drank whiskey" or "Dad got drunk." Hard choice as both were true.

btw, the essay he wrote was entered in the school wide competition! This weekend, the boy impressed me when he sang Let it Be to this gorgeous older woman at Sun Moon Lake and later played it off as though it was nothing but a thang!

After spending much of the day indoors the boy and I took a flashlit walk around the neighborhood picking up sidewalk worms to put in the vegetable planters we have on the balcony. I held the light and the bag and he did the dirty work.

Took my son to the baseball field today for some batting and fielding practice. Joined up with a gung ho dad and his son. Wow...parenting styles differ, but fack, his kid ran circles around mine.

Not having the squad suffer a setback, but rather that mindmeld that it takes to get past that, or at least suffer through it with style. One can't win them all, and only in defeat can one learn true victory. Or at the very least close up that p'rimitah! And stay frosty!
