Next Veggie Dinner Friday August 8th

Missed July, but we'll have the next veggie dinner on Friday Aug 8th.

This time I'll make it Hui Liu on Yong Kang St. This is a favorite of foreigner vegetarians in Taipei, located right on the edge of the park on Yong Kang Jie. For those who don't know Yong Kang St, go to the intersection of Xinsheng S Rd and Xinyi Rd and head W along the South side of Xinyi and you'll see it. Nearest MRT is Zhongxiao/Xinsheng and you can get a bus easily from there.

I've gotta work til 7 on Friday, so I'll make it 8:00PM. Anyway, it's a good location for late eating, and we could go for a mango ice at the most famous and best mango ice place in town after.

Oh yeah, they do sort of Chinese / Asian, healthy non-greasy food and pizza and stuff too.

Details:
8:00 Pm Friday August 8th
Hui Liu Vegetarian Restaurant
No. 9, Lane 31, Yong Kang St

PM me to let me knwo if you want to come. There's 5 of us already.

Brian

Hui Liu is not to be missed. It is one of my favorites so I wrote a review of it here. Try to get one of the cozy elevated platform rooms. I think these are available through reservation.

I also believe Brian is refering to the Ice Monster (Bing Guan) in his post. Also another favorite. I also wrote a review of it here.

I'd love to make it Brian. See if Chris will forgive me for missing another one of his sets at Bien (right around the corner from Yong Kang jie in fact).

It'd be great to see you Jake. Let's go to Hui Liu, then to Ice Monster if we're not already too full, and then to Bien. It's all easy walking distance and would make for a great night out.

Sorry, Brian, my DJing duties conflict with this month's timing. However, feel free to role by Bien after your veggie feast. I swear I'll make to one of these.

Sorry about the short notice, but...

Return of the Monthly Veggie Feed

8th of every month

July 8 2004 (Thursday)
7PM
Hui Liu Veggie Restaurant
Yongkang St Taipei

Yongkang is just off Xinyi Rd, near the intersection of Xinyi and Xinsheng Rds. No MRT very close - go to Xinyi Xinsheng and take a bus. Yongkang is one street before Alleycat's. Hui Liu is basically in the park on Yongkang St. I'll try and pick up a name card tomorrow for exact directions.

I hope at least some of you who have expressed interest can make it. Please let me know (by PM - or replying here) if you're coming so that I can book a table.

Brian

Thanks for organizing this Brian. I had a mini-veggie feed of sorts planned for Wednesday night, which I will try and bump up to Thursday night. I will let you know ASAP.

If anyone is interested, you haven't had real seasame noodles until you've tried Hui Liu's. They are fantastic. HL is perhaps my favorite restaurant in Taipei for food, ambiance, service, etc. :D

Thanks for getting everyone together, Brian. It was great to break bread with other vegetarians here in Taipei. And Hui Liu has some great homemade bread, right? Please let us know when the next one is. :D

Yeah, it was a good night.

Next will be August 18th (we've changed form 8th of every month to 18th of every month) at Jiulong - a place with traditional Chienese food. It's good.

Details closer to the time.

Here's the details:

Jiulong Vegetarian Restaurant
Civic Boulevard, Section 3, no. 140

¤EÀs»Õ ¯À¹§{
¥«¥Á¤j¹D¤T¬q140¸¹

August 18th, 7:30PM

Please PM me if you want to come, so as I can book a table.

This one is more fo a traditional style Chinese restaurant, with good food. We can order banquet style, or individually.

Directions: From Zhongxiao-Xinsheng MRT station exit 4, walk North about 1 minute and turn right on Bade Rd. You'll soon hit Civic Boulevard, turn right again, and it's a few doors down from the intersection. No English signage, but you'll recognise it as a traditonal, red, Chinese restaurant.
